Our Story
MEET KELLY KANICKI, OWNER
Kanicki Jewelry Co. began long before it ever had a name—back when the world slowed down and we all searched for something steady to hold onto. For me, that something was jewelry. What started as a small COVID hobby quickly became a creative escape, a quiet ritual of stringing beads while the world outside felt uncertain.
I fell in love with the distinct beauty of Navajo pearls after seeing them at cattle show trade events. Their smooth silver sheen, their weight, their history—everything about them drew me in. But in my area, finding authentic pieces or anything inspired by that style was nearly impossible. So, like many good stories begin, I decided to make my own.
For a long time, jewelry-making lived alongside my work as a SNAP-Ed Educator, a job I cared deeply about. But when recent federal funding cuts cost me that position, I suddenly found myself standing at a crossroads. It was one of those moments where you either step back—or leap forward.
I chose to leap.
What had once been a small passion project became my full-time pursuit. I poured my heart into learning, refining, and building something that felt true to me. And from that mix of creativity, resilience, and a whole lot of determination—Kanicki Jewelry Co. was born.
Today, every piece I create carries a bit of that story: a love for artistry, a reverence for the styles that inspired me, and a belief that even endings can become beginnings.
